Double Challenge

Well, I wasn't sure if I was going to complete this card in time, but I did! This card actually works for two challenges. The first is the April Challenge #1 for GKD, and the second is the sketch challenge for Stamp TV. I started by coloring my image with copic markers. Then I stamp my sentiment and traced the center of the nestabilities tag, and then cut it out and adhered it to the nestabilities tag. I attached it to the card using ribbon. I added the ticket corner punch and brads to decorate the corners of the card. I also added the flower to decorate the "corner" of the focal image. The paper for this card is by K and Company, I love the wave pattern on this paper!

That's all for now. Have a super week!

GKD Recipe Challenge

Two down one to go..... I guess I am going backwards completing the challenges over at SCS. This is April Challenge #2: Yummy Recipe. The requirements for this card recipe were:

1. one piece of pattern paper

2. two different ribbons

3. three eyelets

The paper I chose was from the new Basic Grey 6x6 paper pad Wisteria. I chose to cut the paper into rectangles, because I thought it looked like a window. The eyelets are by Dritz from Michaels sewing notions department. The ribbon is from Michaels. The focal image is the "Home tweet Home" stamp set by Rupa Shevde from GKD. My lovely sister let me borrow this stamp set. I colored in the image with copics and outlined it in cold stone by Prismacolor. My Mom helped me pick out the color choices for this cute bird. I used the petite oval nestabilities to cut this image out and matted it with the scallop petite oval nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping by, off to do the last challenge, laundry, and grocery shopping. (Too bad I can't do them in that order?!)

Exciting News and April Challenge #3

First I'd like to share some exciting news! I won the Sketch Challenge on Stamp TV!! I was absolutely stunned!! I never win anything, so I was VERY excited over this news. AND, for the prize I was able to pick out a free set from Gina K?! That is a very generous prize!! I decided to choose Tropical Flowers :)

Next, this week Gina K. also released new stamp sets and along with the release there are three challenges to participate in over at SCS. The prize is a free stamp set!! Also, if you use Gina K. stamps you are entered into the drawing twice! I started with the third one, use a sentiment or image to create a background and use it as your focal image. I chose to use the set Happy Harvest by Gina K to complete this challenge. I stamped the leaf image using dark moss chalk ink to create the background. For the focal image I stamped the leaves on a lighter shade of green and cut them out. I also stamped the sentiment in rich cocoa memento ink to compliment the leaves. I added cranberry as an accent color, I love this color combo.

That's all for now, off to complete the other challenges!

Thanks for stopping by!

Back Into the Swing of Things

I have been MIA for awhile. Things at school were crazy and now are finishing up our Spring Break today. I thought I would have more opportunities to sit down and make more cards, especially with it being Spring Break. But...we were busy everyday with something. During my time off, we went to Madison for one day. And, yes, I was able to go to Gina K's retail store! I had to be quick though, by husband was in the car... So I loaded up quickly with some new goodies. And, hopefully will be putting the new sets to use. I have them all trimmed up.

With today's entry I am using a set by Gina K. that I had gotten over the summer. I purchased some copic markers and found a great tutorial by Asela Hopkins. I didn't have exactly the same colors, but they were pretty close. I am very pleased that I had success with this, the copic markers definatley have a learning curve.

After coloring in my image I was checking out Stamp TV, and found the new sketch challenge. And I found some patterned paper from Basic Grey's 6x6 paper pad, Urban Prairie, that matched, and threw this card together. The ribbon is Martha Stewart twill tied with very thin twine. All of the circles are cut out with nestabilities.

That's all for now!

Have a great week!
