SCS Weekly Sketch

Another CAS card to share, I used the sketch challenge SCS238 for the layout. For the squares I embossed them using a CB small folder. I did have to pop up some of the dashes when I was done, as they got smooshed when I was done embossing all three squares. I colored the small flowers from the stamp set Live Your Dream with Memento markers and stamped them inside the embossed squares. I matted it on turquoise paper, pierced the edge, and added some black brads on the side of the panel. For the sentiment I embossed a circle using a small CB folder and stamped the Verve sentiment inside.

Congratulations!

We have a wedding coming up in a couple of weeks, and I thought I would get the card ready now. I am usually making a card last minute driving my husband crazy…so he will be pleasantly surprised to know that this one is done…early! I used a couple of challenges for this card: Fall-to Layout 51 and CAS 24 at SCS. Since this is a clean and simple card, I will simply list the recipe below:

Golf Birthday Card

It’s my brother’s birthday tomorrow, and as you can tell he is a golfer. Since this is a masculine card I kept it pretty simple, but added some fun details for this one. For the grass I first colored the green with copic markers to add some shading, and then I used my quickie glue pen and applied glue to the whole image. I sprinkled on green fun flock and presto my grass was fuzzy. For the golf balls I colored over them with the sakura clear glaze pen to make them shiny. For the golf ball embellishment I embossed my white paper with the cb folder and then punched it out with the 1 inch circle. To make it shiny I pressed it into the versamark ink pad and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I added some piercing around the focal image and in between all of the strips of patterned paper. The brads are from a local scrapbook store, but I noticed they are in the Oriental Trading Company scrapbook catalog. I think the only detail I missed was the cardstock I used, it is all from GKD.

Peek a Boo Box

This week on SCS the weekly tutorial was this cute Peek a Boo Box. I think these would be fun to make for co-workers at the holidays filled with little treats. For this sample I used the stamp set Great Friend, and a retired SU designer double-sided paper. To decorate the box I attached ribbon around the box and then added a bow with a glue dot. I also made a scallop circle frame around the opening of the box. For the top of the box I stamped and cut out the frame from Great Friend (ink: Aloe Vera chalk ink) and stamped the sentiment in the center (French Blue cat eye by colorbox). I added a scallop border on the bottom (ek success), and then colored some white pearls with copic marker G24 to match the project. Lastly, I used my largest corner rounder and took off the guide, and rounded the tab of the peek a boo box. And most importantly I filled the box with these yummy coffee flavored candies by Sweet n Low.

Stamp TV Sketch

The CAS challenge on SCS was to "Show us your artwork." Today’s card is inspired by this artwork: Flower Bee. I love the polka dots, colors, and flowers in this artwork, and so I selected papers from the new Lemonade 6x6 Basic Grey paper pad which have the same colors and polka dots. My focal image is a stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs and I colored it with copic markers using the same colors as the artwork. I also added some glitz by adding glitter to the wings. For the flower I colored it in and added a glittered yellow center, cut it out and popped it up with a pop dot. It is hard to tell from the picture, but I colored my gems with copic markers to have them match my card. I love how you can customize your embellishments with your markers! For the layout of the card I used the Stamp TV sketch!

SCS Weekly Sketch

It has been a long time since I have participated in a SCS sketch challenge, so when I saw the new sketch I had to give it a try. I was running low on sympathy cards so I decided to go that route, and used the SU set Close as a Memory. I started by using Memento Markers rhubarb stalk and bamboo leaves to color my focal image. I stamped it and matted it in charcoal. Then for the panel I used a paper from the Basic Grey Wisteria 6x6 paper pad and matted it in charcoal also. The green strip is embossed with the Quickutz Vines embossing folder, and I tied on some SU cranberry crisp ribbon. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the sentiment in Charcoal Chalk Ink, and added piercing under the sentiment. Last I added my pieces to the maroonish (it is a different kind of a color) cardstock and adhered it to the base.

I loved the sketch, it would work for a lot of images that I have!

Featured Stamper

The Featured Stamper at SCS was Kelly a.k.a shirmcat. She had a lovely gallery, it was fun to look through! As I was browsing through this card looked like something I would love to make, and I knew my Basic Grey Stamp Set would work great for this. When participating in the Featured Stamper Challenge you are suppose to change 2 or more parts of the card. I chose to change the stamps and the border punch. To start I punched the border using Martha Stewart's simple scallop border punch. Then I cut the pink piece of paper to measure 5.25". Then I lightly drew a grid on the bottom 4x4 section of the pink paper, and stamped the medallions in the center (definatley used the stamp a ma jig!) Next I made a dot on the crossings and erased the rest of the grid lines. I centered the pink flower on top of the dot I had made at the crossings. For ink I used pallete new canvas and berry sorbet from Papertrey Ink. Next I stamped the sentiment from amuse, and last added a stay put bow using SU twill ribbon. I adhered the card front to GKD 120 lb. pure white luxury paper. This was a fun card to make! :)
