Challenge Times Three

This card is for three challenges!
1. Stamp TV technique challenge: Polished Stone

2. Stamp TV color challenge: red and brown

3. SCS Card Sketch Challenge

I have to say I didn't intentionally do this, but I think it's kinda crazy that it turned out this way!

The base cardstock is chocolate kiss by GKD! The red is stamped with Hero Arts Design Block: Old Writing Flowers Collage in chocolate by Ancient Page. The script paper is by Paper Studio and I distressed it using Distress Ink: Mahogany. The focal image is done using the polished stone technique. If you haven't tried this or want to know more check out Stamp TV's video tutorial! I used memento reinkers: sand, angel pink, and rhubarb, and the silver alcohol mixtative by Adirondack. I stamped the flower from GKD stamp set comfort and peace in ancient page chocolate and added some self adhesive pearls. The two squares are a Sizzix sizzlet called brushed stroke square. When I was done with my card, I couldn't believe I didn't add any ribbon or brads?! I guess I was going for clean and simple with this one!! :)

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be gone for a few days, but I have scheduled some posts while I am gone (crossing my fingers that they actually post, I haven't tried doing this yet)

Stamp TV Weekly Sketch Challenge

I wasn’t sure if I was going to complete this sketch challenge from Stamp TV on time this week. When I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but every time I went to make it something came up.

For this sketch I used the set Framed Flowers. I stamped the images in true black ink by Papertrey. Then I cut out and embossed the flowers using the square nestabilities. Next I stamped the sentiment and cut out and embossed it using the label nestabilites, and attached it behind the patterned paper panel. The red embellishments are self adhesive nailheads that I picked up at Archiver’s. The patterned paper is by Kaiser: Ebony and Ivory: Penelope. I attached the squares with pop dots to give the card dimension, and added a red/black ribbon to add some color.

That’s all for now! Thanks for stopping by!!

Mojo Monday

This is a card I made for the Mojo Monday Sketch (see sidebar for link). Since it is the first sketch of the month it is also a contest, where you can win a free set from the Verve Store! So head over to the Mojo Monday Site and give the sketch a try!

This card is for my husband's cousin who had a baby girl this week. The elephant is from Stampin' Up called, Just Celebrate. I stamped on Gina K. cardstock using rich cocoa memento ink and colored it in with my copic markers. I then outlined it in Prismacolor Cold Stone. The image was cut out and embossed using the square nestabilities. Next I matted it used the scallop square nestabilities and pierced the scallops. The sentiment is from Papertrey's Mixed Messages set. I cut it out using a 5/8 inch circle punch and then matted it with a cuttlebug flower. The ribbon behind the sentiment is by Martha Stewart.

For the circle I punched out a 1 1/2 inch circle of the Autumn Leaves patterned paper: Paper Precious. Then matted it using SU scallop circle punch, and pierced the scallops as well. The flower is by prima and I added a self adhesive pearl. The brown strip is cuttlebugged with the swiss dots folder. For the border I punched out the Martha Stewart scallop heart border, and edged it with American Crafts swiss dot brown ribbon to match the bottom. Then I made my first attempt at using my Janome sewing machine on a card?! I practiced a few times, and then just went for it. I am happy with the results and will be using this technique more often! This was a fun sketch, hope you go and give it a try!!

Pullin' Pastels and a Sketch

This week Gina K had us digging out our chalk sets to create using the pullin' pastels technique. I have never done this, so I had an "oh cool" moment after I stamped my first image. :) I decided to use this technique to make the background for this card (which is also the sketch challenge this week at SCS.) I used pink, purple, and green on top of a dark grey cardstock. After I cut the strips I matted them in dark grey, and then adhered them to a piece of patterned paper from the Basic Grey 6x6 pad, Eva. Then I tied a piece of sheer purple ribbon by Offray around the bottom of the card. For the sentiment I stamped the Get Well Soon from Sincere Salutations and cut it out and embossed it using the classic rectangle nestabilities. I edged this with eggplant ink by Versamagic, added the brads, and then adhered it to the card using pop dots.

That's all for now! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp TV Challenges

I made a card tonight that fulfills two of the challenges at Stamp TV. The first was the Sketch Challenge. I like that there was a circle behind the focal image it was a fun layout to work with! The other challenge was a color challenge. The colors were red and blue, but the theme was not to be patriotic. So I went with the theme of birthday, using the Make a Wish set by Gina K. I think this card will be perfect for my nephew. He loves red!

For the details I' ll start with the focal image from Make a Wish. I stamped it in Versamagic Night Sky ink. Then I colored the stars in with Memento markers: tangelo and dandelion. For the largest star I outlined it in tangelo and then filled it in with the dandelion. After coloring the stars in I applied glue using the quickie glue pen, and added yellow and orange glitter. Now for the largest star, I applied glue to only the center and sprinkled on yellow glitter then went around the yellow with the glue pen and added the orange glitter. It is hard to tell from the picture that I did this. For the sentiment I used my stamp a ma jig to stamp Make a Wish in Versamagic Brick Red.

After I matted the image in blue I cut out the star patterned paper using my nestabilities. Now I don't have the pinking circles nestabilities so I brought out my pinking sheers and made my own decorative border. Then I pierced around the edge of the circle.

Next was the panel at the bottom, I cut out the striped patterned paper and matted it with blue cardstock and then pierced this section. Then I attached the focal image to this panel. For the ribbon I used the stay put bow again! If you haven't tried it, you better you will be hooked!

For the background of the card I knew I wanted it to be red, but when I laid my pieces down I thought it needed some texture. So I ran it through the polka dotted cuttlebug embossing folder. Then I attached the circle and trimmed off the excess, and attached the focal image. To dress it up just a little bit I added some yellow brads in the corner, and attached it to the blue base.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping by!

Gina K Release Challenge

Gina K. had her latest release a couple of days ago. If you haven't seen her new stamp sets be sure to go and check them out! In addition to the release of the stamp sets she also has included two more colors in her cardstock collection! I absolutely LOVE her cardstock! The white is excellent for coloring with copic markers, it's smooth and SOO thick!! The rest of the colors are wonderful also, very heavy weight and give your card a sturdy base!

Anywho. As part of the release party there were three challenges posted over at SCS, and a participant would be chosen randomly to win a free set. This card is for a challenge to make a masculine card. I thought this would work for men who enjoy gardening.

I colored the tomato from Summer Harvest using Asela's coloring tutorial. Then I cut out and embossed the image with square nestabilities. I then matted it with brown cardstock. Next I cut out a piece of green cardstock and embossed it using the cuttlebug folder: diamonds in the rough. I also matted this with brown cardstock. I added some brown twill ribbon to the bottom and tied it with twine. The background patterned paper I used is from Chatterbox. For the sentiment I stamped it in memento rich cocoa and punched it out using the oval punch from SU. Then I punched out a green 1 1/8 inch circle, and a brown designer label punch (SU). I glued the pieces together and added a brad on each side, then attached it to the card with pop dots.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Last SOA Challenge Post

This was the last card I made for the Stampin' Out Alzhiemer's Event. This was a Two by Two Card Challenge sponsored by Taylored Expressions. The requirements included using two colors: pink and brown (and neutral color of choice) and only two embellishments: I chose ribbon and a heart brad. And for the layout of the card I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #70.

When I saw the challenge colors were pink and brown, I knew I wouldn't have any trouble finding some patterned paper (that is my favorite color combo!) This is an older paper from Doodlebug, the flowers and butterflies are just too fun. For the images I used a cupcake stamp by Endless Creations. I colored it with copic markers and added stickles to the outline of the heart. I also added piercing around the edge, and tied the pink ribbon from Joann Fabrics around the bottom. Then I adhered it to the classic scallop rectangle nestabilities. For the sentiment, this is a stamp by Hero Arts. I stamped it in Gingerbread ink by Versamagic and punched it out with a 7/8 inch circle punch. Then I punched out a brown circle using a 1 inch circle punch. And the scallop is a 1 1/4 inch scallop punch by ek success. In the center I added a glittery heart brad.
