Hello Stampers!  I'm here to share a card that I made for the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches:

For my card I started by selecting a patterned paper for the background and matted it with mossy meadow card stock.  Then I die cut my focal image. and adhered it to the patterned paper.  For the sentiment I stamped, die cut, and popped it up over my focal image.  To finish the card I added some bees.  For the inside I kept it simple since it is a thank you card.  I die cut the image, trimmed it down, and then adhered to the inside of the card.

Hello Stampers!  It's Sunday and you know what that means!  It is Featured Stamper Sunday Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  Here is the card I CASED:

For my card I used the apple coin die and die cut all of the pieces to the apples.  I used double score lines to frame the apples, and then I stamped the sentiment using my trusty ol' Stamp a ma Jig.  I kept the inside simple so that I can write a message inside.

Hello Stampers!  I'm here to share a card that I made for the Featured Stamper Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  I selected the following card as inspiration for my card:

For my card I change the orientation of the card.  I used a butterfly swirl embossing folder for my butterflies like she did.  Instead of adding white butterflies, I adhered some of the brass butterflies in with the embossed butterflies.  I did the sentiment the same way I used gold embossing powder instead of ink for my sentiment.  For the inside I just put a couple of butterflies so there would be room to write a note.  That's all for now!  Check back soon I also made a Halloween card this weekend!  :)

Hello Stampers!  I'm here to share my card that I made for the Freshly Made Sketches sketch of the week:

I am a kindergarten teacher and I am always in need of thank you notes.  So I decided to make a thank you note.  For my card I stamped, die cut, and colored the crayons with Copic markers.  I lined them up and adhered them to a white panel.  I matted this panel with black cardstock.  For the sentiment I die cut and stamped the wavy thanks so much, and popped it up with some mini dimensionals.  For the inside of the card I colored a couple more crayons and adhered them in the corners so I have room to write a message.

Thanks a Bunch

Hello Stampers!!  How about a bright sunflower card for this dreary day?!  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to make this card.  Here is the sketch:

To make the card I started with the bumblebee card base and added a white layer on top.  Then it was onto the focal image.  I inked up my sunflower with daffodil delight ink and then I took a larger sponge dauber and inked it up with soft suede ink.  Then I tapped the sponge onto the center of the sunflower to give it a darker color in the center.  I cut this into a rectangle, and matted it with some bumblebee cardstock.  Next I was able to cut out the DSP to go behind the focal image.  Once that was adhered I stamped the sentiment using my Stamp a Ma Jig.  Right before popping up the sunflower panel onto the card I decided to add a linen thread bow.  It was kind of a sticky mess because I already had on the dimensionals, LOL.  The joys of cardmaking! :)

Watercolor Thank You

I saw the Freshly Made Sketch and found inspiration in the layout.  I still had my sunflower stamp set out from my last card, and thought it would be great for the focal image of this sketch.  I stepped out of my comfort zone using watercolors instead of copic markers.  I started with a watercolor background, and then watercolored the sunflowers and cut them out.  I then die cut the panel with the stitched rectangle die cut, and adhered it to a grey cardstock base.  Thanks for stopping by!!

My Dad, Mr. Fix It

Happy World Cardmaking Day!  I was determined to get to my craft room and actually make a card to celebrate the day.  It took me all day to get there, but I did!

 

So we have gradually been running out of hot water all week....we knew that the heating elements in our hot water heater needed to be replaced, and were hoping that it would make it until my Dad had some time to look at it.  He was planning on coming up on Friday and that morning my husband and I both had cold showers! brrrrr!  That was great timing!  He came and replaced the elements and the thermostat, and we have hot water again! Yay! 

 

So I made him this card, he is our Mr. Fix It.  This stamp set is called Fix It Fred, and my Dad's name is Fred.  It was meant to be. 

 

I used the color challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments to make this card.  The colors were early espresso, island indigo, and tangerine tango.

How cute is this new flower?!  I love that you can use punches to create all of the layers, I don't have a lot of patience when I have to cut out a stamped image.  The size of this square card is 4.25x4.25.  Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Thank You

So I received an email the other day regarding a contest for new demonstrators. The contest is to create a card using only supplies from your starter kit! I love challenges and contests so I created this card. I stamped the frame on kraft in black ink. Then I stamped the sentiment in cherry cobbler, cut it out, and popped it up over the frame. At the top I edged it with the border punch, added some score lines, and added some ribbon. Lastly, I rounded the corners at the base.

Oh Martha!

Just when I think I've got it all Martha does it again! I was at Michaels this weekend and they had some new Martha border punches! Why oh why am I so addicted??!! I think I need therapy! I just couldn't leave this on the shelf! I love it!! I added a bunch of black pearls to the centers of the flowers. The ribbon is from hobby lobby and the flower is by Bazzill. I added a button in the center and tied some red and white twisted floss to the button. My sentiment is by Amuse and I fancied it up by punching it out using SU oval and scallop oval punches. I am just loving this week's fall to layout!

My Aunt made me some handstitched table runners as a housewarming gift, so I of course decided to make her a thank you card. I also recieved my Stampin' Up order...so I had to use some of my new goodies! I followed the tutorial by Gretchen Barron to make the square scallop border. I am still working on making the rectangle border with the new border punch...I'm not having much luck.. So for now I'll stick to the squares. I also purchased Heard from the Heart and was excited to use it, I just love this set!!! Then I broke out a stamp set that I had purchased at a rummage, and haven't used yet. I blinged up the butterfly with two tones of pink self adhesive pearls by Basic Grey.

Verve Release Party Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone! If there weren't sketch challenges, I don't think I would make many cards. I just love participating! This sketch challenge is being hosted by Julee on behalf of the release of her new Verve stamps tomorrow. By participating you are entered into a random drawing to win some of those fabulous stamps, and she will be choosing her favorite entry to play along with the verve divas as a guest designer for June! How exciting would that be?! So I broke out some new Verve stamps that I got for my birthday! I chose the set Grateful Elegance, what a fun set to work with. I started by stamping the background in Aquatic Splash, I definately used my stamp-a-ma-jig to align this stamp to make the background. Next I matted this onto black cardstock. I then worked on the focal image, I stamped the flowers in memento tuxedo black and colored them in with copic markers. I really wanted a stem on these flowers, and after looking through my images to find a stem stamp that would work...I didn't come up with much. So, I used my memento tuxedo black marker and drew some stems. Then I matted this onto black cardstock and tied on the black sheer bow. Then to spruce up the flowers I added an adhesive pearl in the centers, and shined them up using diamond glaze. I set this aside to let it dry, and finished up the remainder of the card. I stamped the aqua strip in versamark, matted it with black, and added adhesive pearls. Then I worked on the sentiment, I embossed the aqua cardstock using a new Quickutz embossing folder, cut it out and then stamped the thanks a bunch! Then it was time to assemble, I decided to add a layer of vellum over the background, to give the card a softer look, and attached it with black brads, and glued on the rest of the pieces.

Mojo Monday 79

It is that time again for Mojo Monday. As always the sketch was fantastic. Here is my take on the sketch:

I started by choosing my patterned paper. This is from a 12x12 paper pad by My Mind's Eye, that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I thought the scallops in the paper would compliment the scalloped edges throughout the card. I can't seem to complete a card without adding scallops?! I just love 'em! I matted the patterned paper with cardstock and added a scallop border using one of my new ek success border punches. Then I stamped my focal image using ancient page chocolate, and cut it out using a long nestability. I colored in the flower using twinkling h20's. I had a hard time finding a coloring medium that matched the papers that I chose. This was the closest I could find, and it adds a little sparkle as well when using these and who doesn't love sparkles! After coloring I matted this with a scallop long rectangle nestability. After attaching the layers to the yellow paper, I attached the ribbon to the back of the yellow layer. This is a ribbon I purchased at Joann's, it is one of the little spools that they sell for $1. Now it was time to stamp the sentiment, I chose a thank you stamp from Amuse. I definately used my stamp-a-ma-jig to align this sentiment. Then I added a striped making memories flower brad that I picked up this weekend at Target. They recently stocked up their scrapbooking supplies with some fun new stuff! Lastly, I added a scallop corner. This is a punch by ek success. Speaking of punches....after I completed this card and was watching tv I heard a crash in my scrapbooking space. My husband and I looked at each other and immediately went into the other room, only to find that my curtain rod had fallen down and my beloved punches were everywhere. I had my curtain rod attached to some rails that were already up that hold up shelving that I have in my room, so it wasn't as sturdy as it would have been attached directly to the wall. So...lesson learned?! oh yeah. I piled up my punches and I will be fixing my curtain rod tomorrow night. :(

It's Challenge Time

This weekend I decided to try some new challenges. The first one that I tried was a sketch challenge from Our Creative Corner. Here is the sketch:

And here is what I did with the sketch.

Details: I started by choosing my DP from SU 6x6 paper pad. I then decided I wanted to use brown as a complimentary color for the base and accents. For the scalloped edge I was very excited to try out my new scalloped scallop edge border punch from ek success. (These punches are fantastic! And the storage of these babies is wonderful and compact!) Next I chose my main image, this monkey stamp is too cute. I colored it is with copic markers and then cut it out with petite oval nestabilities. After I cut it out I took the next size down and lined it up and ran it through the cuttlebug again to emboss it. This gave it a double embossed edge. I chose to do this instead of adding an extra layer. Then I matted it with the dark brown paper. After this was put together I added small creative candy from Amuse to the center of the flowers. Next, I rounded the top corners of the DP and card base, and attached the DP and scalloped edge strip. Before attaching my main image I punched a slot and ran the sheer brown ribbon through it, then I adhered it to the base, and tied the ribbon on. I then attached the flower with a yellow dew drop as my accent, in place of the butterfly. And I added the stamped sentiment in place of the button on the sketch.

The second challenge that I completed was the clean and simple challenge over at SCS. I am very excited about these challenges. It looks like a new CAS challenge will be posted on Mondays. I will definately be checking these out. I tried to post a picture of the sketch, but I was not able to figure it out. Here is the SCS link: CAS #3.

Details: For this one layer card I used Gina K's luxury 120 lb. white cardstock as a base. LOVE, this cardstock! I stamped my image on a stamp-a-ma-jig image sheet and centered it on the card. (I left off a butterfly that was on this stamp, it would have been in the embossed area if I would have kept it on, I decided to add the Martha butterfly punch instead) After I stamped the image, I used the largest plain rectangle nestability to emboss the card front. I did use removable tape to keep the nestability in line. I added the punched butterfly and pink gem stones and I was done! Gotta love a quick and easy card!
